Cook/Baker Café Chatham

Chatham Town Centre Café is looking for a cook/baker to organize and operate daily operations in our kitchen to provide excellent customer products.

Cook/baker responsibilities include monitoring daily expenses and revenues and ordering supplies as needed.  Also, you should be available to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.

Ultimately, you will help increase profitability, boost customer satisfaction, and turn our café into a favourite local spot.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skills.

-        Prepare and cook baked goods for pastry display

-        Prepare assorted salads and sandwiches

-        Oversee kitchen operations

-        Maintain inventory and records, supplies and equipment

-        Maintain workspace cleanliness according to guidelines set

-        Maintain cooking and beverage equipment as per log and maintenance

-        Assist in menu development, costings, food requirements

-        Monitor and order supplies

-        Responsible for opening and closing kitchen

-        Adhere to standard food safety standards

-        Perform other duties as needed or requested

Requirements

-        Bilingual an asset

-        Secondary school diploma

-        Certification Food Safe

-        Minimum 5 yrs. in food service industry

-        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-        Must display attention to detail and strong organizational skills

-        Ability to work independently and as part of a team effectively

-        Flexibility

-        Ability to stand for extended periods of time

-        Ability to bend, lift and carry heavy objects

-        Broad base of knowledge and skills in quantity food handling, preparation and cooking

-        Knowledge of inventory control, ordering, menu planning, and quality control methods
